RCR just reviewed a Chevy Lumina almost identical to the one we had when I was 12. Same color interior, same engine, same absolutely amazing overstuffed front seats. Ours had 300k miles on it and the interior was in stunning condition considering it spent a large portion of its life as a get-around car for a local aircraft manufacturer.

My dad had one as a company car for years in the ‘90s - sandalwood beige with the Recaro buckets in the front. Typically, every seat except the driver’s was buried under a mountain of files and paperwork, but he cleared the passenger side off every now and then. Not an interesting car by any stretch, but certainly reliable. I think they actually still have it in the fleet.

My parents had a ’93 for a few years, a goldish/tan sedan, and I got to drive it a few times. It’s really not a car that I would have expected to be fond of, but the first-gen’s styling has this sort of “modest sportiness” that just clicks really nicely for me. I like the interior, too.

My brother had a loaded white 93 Lumina Euro some tie after the turn of the century. It had red trimmed cladding, spoiler, wheels, and that lovely flamboyant GM burble. Transmission failed at about 200K, he fixed it because he liked the car, then he loaned the car to someone, and it got hit and written off. These might be one of those “mechanical cockroach” cars that aren’t the most refined, but keep on moving.

My mom had a white one. It survived the Okc. bombing, but the entire body was warped just enough to make all of the seals leak. She traded it for an Outback.
