It’s the XV Crosstrek... a car that I would call a solid “meh”. However, the STI wheels, mud flaps, spoiler, plus suspension raise and roof rack, do make it look much more appealing.

Damnit Subaru, just make a WRX hatchback again.

Watch that oil consumption. I’m assuming they have fixed it by now but there are a huge number of Subaru’s out there burning lots of expensive straight 20. I know I have one.

I want a WRX with the trunk access door hinged on the roof. I don’t care what they call it.

Even Subaru knows the new one will be meh so they show it in the darkest picture as possible.

That’s what I am hoping but they have said they aren’t releasing a new WRX until at least 2020 (beyond a 2018 facelift). Though 2020 does put it at about the same time frame in which I would be looking at a new car...

I really wanted one when I was looking for a new commuter, but then I drove one and it was miserable.

Besides the WRX what Subaru isn’t “just meh”? The outback being the only one where getting the base engine seems to be the better choice.

I worked at a subi dealership for a while right when they came out, they sold like hotcakes. People loved them. But then you’d see every one of those buyers a month later for the 30 day inspection, and they’d all ask if their old trade-in was still available at the lot...

There’s always the Forester XT.
Same Turbo FA20 engine as the WRX. But sadly CVT-only.

Yeah but both of the other 2 cars have 4 doors and a trunk too. If its the offroad part you’re worried about, those cars can do that too (not up a mountain of rocks of course).
Im not saying you can’t get a practical SUV. What Im saying is you can also get a practical WRX (Sti) and whip up some dirt going fast! :P
