Except when it’s not...the “75% of the population didn’t vote for Trump” argument that keeps getting trotted out....yeah, and it’s been close to that for every president since at least Bush 41, if not farther back. When 50% of the population doesn’t vote, it’s not hard for someone to become president with only 25% of the population voting for them. You can flip it around and say that only 25% of the population disliked Trump enough to vote for someone else...in fact, his mouthpieces are probably polishing this up as we speak for the first time a reporter asks it...you can also say that the Democrats couldn’t even put forth a candidate who could defeat Donald f’ing Trump...all of these...are merely talking points, but yet, ‘the resistance’ is using the “75% didn’t vote for Trump” as a sword to flail about in saying he’s not a legitimate president...that’s only true if you’re going to say the same about the past several presidents...all it really means of significance is that half of the population of this country can’t even be bothered to go have their voice heard when it comes to picking our new leader, but I bet a bunch of them are out marching over this injustice.

Besides, you can always pick up an ad-free day pass.
None of these are my choice when it comes to long trips. I prefer to stream an audio book.

A buddy of mine and I were sitting around listening to music in Tuscaloosa one day. Cheeseburger in Paradise came on and he said, “Hey, let’s go get a cheeseburger in paradise this weekend.” I said, “I’m in.” Friday night we drove back to B’ham. Come Saturday morning, we headed out on the drive from B’ham to Key West. Had our Cheeseburger in Paradise on Sunday. Drove back home on Monday. Totally worth it.

When driving, I find I can only have limited exposure to any news on the radio while driving. Have to stick to music or silence.
I always try to avoid driving angry.
But outside of driving, what is going on is a little more crazy than I was expecting.
After the election, I was fully expecting Trump to take us all for a ride on the Crazy Train.
But I was expecting Trump’s inauguration to be more like Rob Ford’s... with at least a 6 month honeymoon period and expected it to take at least a year before things went seriously downhill.
But it seems Trump’s honeymoon period ended while he was still president-elect.

The big thing is that the US has had a problem brewing ever since the Civil War ended, really - and it’s now coming to a head.
Had Clinton won, we’d still be fighting against what we now call the alt-right, and they’d have won in 2020 or 2024. (Probably with more ammo against all Democrats, due to the neoliberalism that Clinton would’ve advanced.)
Now, we’re forced to confront the nastiest parts of our society head on, with Trump’s victory. It’s going to be ugly, but we’re (as a society) going to come out stronger for this - even if it means that the country breaks up. (I’m personally for breaking the country up, but it’s definitely possible that Trump is bad enough that we have a “never again” reaction to him, and somehow the entire US can move on.)
