Saw this driving around my neighborhood yesterday, I didn’t get a picture because it drove past before I could. I was properly confused until I remember the GTS-t

I want a 4-door GTS-T.

I don’t understand the love for a GTS-T, particularly the R32. You get an average 2.0 turbo inline 6 and an average chassis with average suspension and brakes.

You’d be better off saving your money and buying an e36 M3 sedan. You’d avoid the “skyline premium” and you would have the steering wheel on the correct side. Oh, and the chassis, engine, brakes, suspension, etc. etc. are significantly better.

But hey, it’s your money.

Cause its interesting. people go gaga for land rover defenders and they are basically tractors. People just like stuff.

It’s interesting because of the GT-R. It’s interesting because you don’t see them. But it isn’t actually a good car. The GT-R is decent, but the GTS-T is literally an average, somewhat sporty, sedan. It has very very few redeeming qualities and most people will just think it’s an Accord or something.

I wouldn’t be so opposed to the idea if people weren’t dropping $10-15k on these. It blows my mind. It’s not THAT interesting.

The difference with the defenders is that they are expensive everywhere and they are exceptionally good at what they’re meant to do: go off road. The skyline gts-t isn’t exceptional at anything. It’s just another sedan.

Turned my head. Frankly I would be more interested seeing a GTS-T drive by over an R32 skyline, because the Skyline is the obvious import. The GTS-t announces that you interest in cars goes beyond F&F movies, and that you have specific tastes.

I think you mean R32 Skyline GT-R. They’re both skylines, just one is the GT-R trim and the other is the GTS-T trim.

I can see the appeal of the GTS-T. It’s the drifter’s choice and (mostly) only those in the know will have any idea what you’re driving.

But there are two major issues:
1) When people find out it’s a skyline, they will immediately assume it’s a GT-R. Explaining that it isn’t will result in most enthusiasts thinking “Oh... too bad.” Any non-enthusiast is going to scratch their head and have no idea what you’re talking about. Try explaining to people that a V35 and V36 is a GT-R and they’ll leave the conversation confused and/or thinking you don’t know what you’re talking about. Trust me, it’s happened to me twice.

2) It’s overpriced. Plain and simple. Given their production numbers, general cost in Japan, and their capabilities, people are getting HOSED in the US because of the name and nothing more. If it was more reasonably priced then I’d be all for it.

All Im saying is that I respect the man who could use his money to import the “better” car, and chooses to get the one he likes instead. Sure if it were my money I would import Toyota Land Cruiser HDJ81, but I give props to the guy importing a Panda 4x4 cause it tickles his fancy. Its their money, why should it bother me? Just me more variety to look at.

True. It is their money and it doesn’t matter what they do with it.

Check out how much people are asking for a nice condition E36 M3 these days.

The question becomes: I can buy this BMW from Craigslist, or I can import a car from Japan.

My choice would be to import a car from Japan. It is my money, after all.

And a turbo RB20 is a sweet engine.

Modding an RB20 becomes frustrating when you consider the low returns you get from some pretty substantial investments. Parts are not easy to come by and the head just doesn’t flow very well.
