Some people just put the zip ties on to ensure that even if the hubcap pops off, it won’t be lost. I don’t know why you’d ever want a hubcap like this in the first place, but that’s a separate issue.

Yeah, their aftermarket steelies were pretty beat up and rusty. But that’s kinda the point. Not sure if the wheels came with the shitty hubcaps or not, but for the price of a little labour and rattle-can black they’d look better than what they’ve got going on currently. Especially on a domestic van.
My 88' Eagle’s got hubcaps on its steel wheels which I think aren’t so hot, but at least they came stock with the car... I’m throwing some Nokian Hakka 8's on those 15" wheels and have bought a set of old Cherokee 17" wheels for the summer tires. Haven’t decided if I’m going to run the steelies with the hubcaps as is, paint them, or go “nude”. Going to powder coat the Cherokee wheels the same gold as the car’s pin-striping.

Man, those wheel covers look a lot better when you can get a good contrast between the wheel and the cover. It’s easier to hide ugly wheels behind a contrasting silver color. But like you said, a little rattle-can work on the steelies would have helped tremendously.
