Those vans are like the ultimate of it ain’t broke don’t fix it. It was the last GM vehicle to use the 4L60 and it’s the only thing that still uses the 4.8L Vortec.

You don’t fix what ain’t broke. The only thing wrong with them is their ancient engines gat crap mileage. My father in law has two of them one 4.8 and one 5.3. Neither of them gets over 14mpg empty.

The 4.8 is a slug in a 1/2-ton pickup. In those vans it’s just awful. You’d get better mileage out of a 6.0 just because you wouldn’t have to rat it everywhere.

Exactly. It’s kinda of like how my old 4 banger Camry got crap mileage. It’s s just too much car for a saner engine.
