Are they really as good as every single person claims they are? I found a deal for Koni STR.T “orange” struts with Tein S Tech springs for a solid price...I’m just hesitant to pull the trigger. I have yet to read a shit review about Koni products, but I’d love to hear from any Oppo members who are living that low life.

I have Koni FSDs which are rather different than the oranges, but I’ve been happy with them so far.

Depends on what you’re looking for. STR.T are Koni’s “OEM+” shocks, like KYB Excel-G/GR-2s, designed to be 10-15% stiffer than stock mostly just to pick up slop. Similarly, the S-Tech is designed to lower the car, and is only stiffer enough to pick up the slack from losing ride height. It’s a decent compromise between ride height and ride quality, though it’s a lot of money to not appreciably increase handling capability.

Since the site is selling them pre-assembled I’m going to assume that there’s someone either there or in the Honda community that has done some work into spring/shock matching, but unless you’re buying coilovers it’s kind of a black art. I ran modestly upgraded shocks like these (KYBs) on my WRX paired with Swift Sports (a slightly more expensive spring than the Teins just based on the upgrade cost on the site you linked), and though the car cornered well it bounced over expansion joints and was unpleasant to live with. The same shocks paired with stock springs rode and handled better, and my sway bars did way, way more for handling than any of my shock/spring pairs did.

If you want to track the car, either go with seriously upgraded shocks (Bilstein Sports, Koni Sports, etc.) or buy coilovers that let you corner balance. This upgrade is 95% cosmetic.

I was going to recommend progress, but I looked and for your Civic theirs are over 1 grand :(

For the 90's Honda’s their $600 but I’ve hear great things about them and they offer multiple spring rates for each car. One day I will probably put these on my Integra.

Probably the right level of suspension for the car. I’d read on some Honda-specific forums how people feel about their suspension setups. My experience being lowered was pretty negative, but for multiple reasons the WRX (especially the GD) doesn’t like having its geometry dicked with...you’ll probably have an easier time with the Civic.

I ran Koni Yellows on my 2008 Si sedan and they were fantastic. I used the stock springs, so your results may vary. On full soft, they felt just like stock. On full stiff, they’re hard enough to make you sick. Somewhere in the middle is pure joy! I lived in Northern California and bombed fire roads every chance I got. Best thing I ever did to a car.
