So some knob crashes a Tesla Model S P75D into your front garden and offers the wreck as compensation and as a result you have a couple of motors and a bunch of batteries lying about seeking a use. Now you could sell them for a bunch of monies and that would be the intelligent but incredibly boring thing to do. No, you want to be on the front page of SpeedHunters and have vegans throw themselves at you, you sexy environmentally conscious bastard. So whatcha gonna build Oppo?

Personally I’d throw the lot under a Citreon C6 because to this day, the big Frenchie is easily the most comfortable car I’ve ever ridden in. That hydractive suspension is the stuff of dreams. Unfortunately that dream is slightly mired but the grumbling smelly diesel.

They were rare, but you could get a gasoline C6 as well. Still though, using the Tesla drivetrain in a C6 is an interesting suggestion. Why not?

Electric drivetrains make so much sense in luxury cars, I’m surprised so many manufacturers are dragging their heels about it. As for the PETROL version, I’m not sure it was sold in the UK.

I’m based in continental Europe, we did get the PETROL version in LHD markets. You guys don’t rally do big cars with PETROL engines, right?

We do in the sense that we build them for export to LHD markets.

Are wheelie bars street legal in Canada because you’ll probably gonna need one with that instant torque.

A neighbour owns one of them and he parks it pretty much anywhere because when it is in park it is pretty much untow/lift/clamp-able.

There’s a joke in here about it finally having enough power.

I’m going in a somewhat similar direction to you. Renault Vel Satis.

They sure did. I like the Vel Satis but it was as reliable as you’d imagine it would be. Tesla motors would perfect it.

Possibly a DS, for pretty much the same reasons, or a kei car of some variety, for the exact opposite.

I was thinking the other day how cool/fun it would be to have tesla like power in my truck. Split the batteries between the front where the engine would normally be and over the rear wheels for better traction. It would make me a little sad to not hear my V8 roar but would also be completely ridiculous.

The Vel Satis V6 did have Nissan’s legendary VQ35DE engine that is quite reliable but i’m guessing the electrics were the problem on this one.

Could be funny to swap it into a nissan leaf they are cheap enough and you could seriously troll people at stop lights.

With those I always hear about gearbox issues, not sure which box they used. Maybe the ones I’ve seen were just mistreated badly.

i-MiEV swap. One of the slowest cars in the US market, suddenly made one of the fastest.

Failing that, rallycross build in something, not sure what.

Did anyone propose the DS? Because that would be fantastic too! Really, the only problem I have with wonky Citroens is their wonky reliability. An electric drivetrain should cure that and add even more silence to the luxury!
