Falken Azenis RT615Ks vs. Toyo Proxes R1Rs

The Proxes R1R used to be a 140 treadwear tire, but has been relabeled as a 200 after more testing. I love the tread pattern.

Kinja'd!!!

The Azenis reviews seem to say it’s a little more forgiving at the limit than other “Extreme Performance” tires.

R1Rs used to be THE BEST SHIT in autocross for stock-class Miatas until the 200TW rule came into effect. Since then RE-71Rs have dominated the scene; I highly suggest grabbing a set of REs if you have the budget for them, just be warned that they live (and die) by the rule of “Twice as bright, half as long.”

Bummer. I don’t know how R1Rs will perform with heavy cars.

Yep, OEM hoods are expensive because of all the bros who want them for their V6 ‘birds. It’s pathetic.

Part of it is that the sizes shown in the pictures are different. The Toyo is a 275 (right size) while the Falken is a 245. It helps the Toyo look tougher.

You could do some TSL Swampers.

Or why even put it on a shirt?

They’re within $15 of each other.

Toyo probably relabeled it to 200 so it can be used in events that require a 200 tw rating. That’s why the RT615k is so popular.

I have Falken tires on my car now (not the RT615k, just a typical all-season). They seem good.

My choice would be Falken. No reason really, but if those were my choices, that would be my choice.

I’ve used both, in daily driver and autox capacity. I would definitely pick r1r’s of the two, but for various reasons much prefer dunlop ZII star specs.

Another tire I can’t have, 275/40 R17 is a dying size.

Oh no. I don’t have any tattoos. I like them better on other people.
