There were 3 Infinitis parked in front of my house today. My Q70L was at the curb, and the Q50 we had as a rental (R.I.P. Sienna), and my wife’s new QX60.
Yes, the Vespa is parked in the front yard. We can’t find the gate opener.
We went and looked at a 1990 Mercedes 420SEL with $150000 miles listed for $1900.
Cosmetically, it was rough because $1900 car. But it sounded good, and no sign of rust or any leaks.
It drove pretty well except it was out of alignment, and there was a sound from the rear axle/suspension that I did not like.
Verdict:Pass. I’m willing to spend a little more to get something better.
Enthusiast dad is struggling with practical mom. I see some SC400 and SC300 examples that are seem worth a look (automatics but my son doesn’t care). The quest continues.

Get him an LS400. IMO it’s the best first car. slow, yet fast enough to be safe, legendarily reliable, very safe, and effortlessly cool. That SEL does not look loved. Also, yeah like wobbles said, why is thd star upside down and why is there a chunk of grille missing?
