If you’ve stopped watching grand tour, this weeks has been my favorite. A couple of episodes I didn’t finish and I skipped another but this one has been great. And you know what, it’s been almost all about cars!

I stopped watching at episode 4 because I was heavily fatigued at what they were doing in the final years of Top Gear and was very miffed that they had just continued doing the exact same thing.
So with that said, have they changed things up in the following 8 episodes or would I just be wasting my money?

It is getting better, but I kinda wish they’d go back to the straight up, no gimmick races. I thought the ending of the Maserati race back to the UK was dumb, since May could have stopped for coffee, drove to the Chunnel, and beaten Clarkson and Hammond back to the UK. While killing Biturbos is fun, I think a legit race ending on the UK side would be more entertaining.
Also it bugs me that they always have the opening segment with a bunch of nifty cars, but don’t do anything with them after that. Spending 10 mins on why they chose them, then making fun of each other’s cars would have been a lot better than the human reverse camera segment (and others like it).

I have enjoyed almost every episode of the Grand Tour. They seem like they are more themselves, and are enjoying doing it. They still seem like they are getting used to the tent instead of their old hanger.

I felt like there was an absurd amount of schtick(attempts at really preplanned comedy) and just vaguely related to cars and there is still a bit of the dumb comedy but at least they are talking more about cars in the last two episodes. I don’t know that I’d pay money but if you have Amazon, might be worth giving it another shot.

In that case I’ll probably give it a miss. Hopefully they do what Top Gear are doing and put their best bits on YouTube.
