Kinja'd!!!

The back end of these DB11 is so high up lol. Those little Satan horn bumpers are so odd. The V12 Vantage looks ancient compared to DB11, but it is not very ordinary at all...

Kinja'd!!!

This particular non metallic bluish grey V12 Vantage is one of 100 made. Not entirely sure which edition this is, but it has a lot of carbon fiber bits (regular, not crushed carbon like DB11). On top of that, a full Alcantara interior and the cherry on top, a 7 SPEED MANUAL.

Now, some random pronz

Kinja'd!!!

Nothing too interesting in our Mercedes side besides a million AMG GTs that came in a while back. For Lotus, oh yeah beh beh...

Kinja'd!!!

BRG Evora 400!

For Volvo, our stuff is mostly half old phase out stuff and new SPA platform. Still, even after 7 years, the S60 looks sooooo good!

Kinja'd!!!

In our used car section, this little Elise got traded in. The damn thing only has 2,300 mile on it! It is freaking showroom quality. We usually pay $5,000- $24,000 for Elise trade ins. I believe they settled for almost $30,000 for this.

Out of curiosity, what does that BRG Evora run?

Useful for client drop off and pick up for service. Not bad for a family owned dealership.

I like and dislike the DB11. I kinda wish they looked more like the DB10.

But hot damn that Elise is beautiful. I would love to own one, but at that price I’d almost rather get a 1st gen Viper, hell even a 2nd gen coupe would be nice.

Kinja'd!!! "EL_ULY" (uly)
01/28/2017 at 11:30, STARS: 1

For the money, i’d also do Viper or e85 ///M. Elise are crazy fun doe.

I’ve been giving the DB11 more and more looks and drives as they come in. More in more they are seeming “meh” So many little details don’t work right. Heck even when the trucks are picking them up from the port, they are still building them lol. I got a free wrench that way :] Rush jobs are bad for quality. “Hand built in England” plate is a very scary feature imo lol :] Maybe once they go full AMG, i’ll give them more credit

Kinja'd!!! "CaptDale - is secretly British" (captdale)
01/28/2017 at 11:37, STARS: 0

Heck yeah a Z4M would be badass. Especially in coupe form. I know they are, but I just feel like it is a lot of money for a glorified go kart.

That is pretty cool. Anything special or just a normal wrench? I like the “Hand Built in England” but this isn’t the 1960's anymore and they need to know that “Handbuilt” and quality are separating further and further away from each other unless they do something about it.

What do you mean full AMG?

You work in the parts dept there right?

Ok but what is a $5,000 Elise like?

Kinja'd!!! "EL_ULY" (uly)
01/28/2017 at 11:43, STARS: 0

in bad shape from track days or just simply not taken care of. We usually just wholesale those

it’s a neat 6 mm wrench. Don’t remember what brand. When I worked for Lexus, I once found a bag of Doritos from Japan and a neat electric screwdriver thing.

By full AMG, I mean when the DB11 loose the FoMoCo V12 and gets the V8's from AMG.

I was a tech since forever. More than anything, the front end/drivability specialists. At dealers, I was a master tech for Lexus 06-10 then switched to our 4 brands here but mostly with Volvo. Eventually becoming Volvo master tech. I left to help my dad’s A/C company but returned now in the parts department. I bounce around but am a little more at Volvo since master cert for parts there. Later this year I will train to replace the parts manager for our Aston/Lotus parts side.

01/28/2017 at 12:11, STARS: 0

That is pretty cool. I don’t think we find neat stuff like that in our cars.

Oh... Yeah I guess. But Aston won’t be Aston without a V12

OK cool. Sounds like you’ve bounced around, but with interesting jobs. Are parts still avaliable for the 90's Vantages and Virages?

Kinja'd!!! "EL_ULY" (uly)
01/28/2017 at 12:19, STARS: 1

they are, but will literally take months to arrive since Aston usually would have to make them from scratch if they can’t source them. Especially if electrical. They rarely stock electrical harnesses or connectors. Even on cars today, they actually pull individual wires and remake everything from scratch. Same with all trim

Kinja'd!!! "CaptDale - is secretly British" (captdale)
01/28/2017 at 12:21, STARS: 0

Just glad to know they are avaliable to get you know? I mean working for GM I get to watch as parts for my GTO get discontinued everyday. Especially now that the plants in Australia are closing.

Kinja'd!!! "EL_ULY" (uly)
01/28/2017 at 12:25, STARS: 1

there is a lot of stuff discontinued also, but nothing super common like a tiny link arm for an a/c blend door or an OBD cover. Random tiny things usually. Volvo are the bad ones who discontinue important things even on cars less than 15 years old.

Aftermarket should hold good as well as used parts for GTO i’m sure right?

Kinja'd!!! "CaptDale - is secretly British" (captdale)
01/28/2017 at 12:39, STARS: 1

Don’t even get me started on GM doing that on Cadillacs. It is BAD!

Yeah, there is a decent aftermarket. I think in the next couple of years it’ll grow pretty damn well too.

How much do they sell for?

Kinja'd!!! "EL_ULY" (uly)
01/28/2017 at 12:45, STARS: 0

just a little over cost then whoever buys them mark them waaay up for their lot. Their shade tree mechanic power washes everything and boom, for sale at “Whatever Derp Sportscars” for $25-$28K

dang, that bad huh.

Our service adviser for Aston drives a 5.7 GTO in black.

01/28/2017 at 13:06, STARS: 0

Yeah, once they stop making the car and the same part isn’t used elsewhere they regularly don’t continue to make it. So once stock is exhausted and there isn’t a massive demand —> discontinued

How do replacement parts work for Designo Mercedes? I believe my car is like one of 250 for 2004 at best, so I’m sort of worried about finding interior bits down the road. Same with coach interior bits for me LS.

With dudes, if something is not made anymore, they wait to have a certain number of orders before continuing with finding someone to make them or remake them in house. For one off things, they go to the back of the line. Takes literally months and months
