Hey Oppo. What does your weekend bring?
My wife and kiddo went out of town so I am solo this weekend. I am hoping to:
- change the gasket under the cam tower on my 944, it’s been leaking oil and getting on the exhaust manifold = no bueno. Looks like it’s going to be a pain though, have to remove the fuel rail, so gas gets on stuff, then apparently the cam tower just pours out oil when you lift it off. I like working on my car but this sounds like a bit of a mess.
- run
- hike or maybe go skiing
- clean- both the house and the garage. Much easier when a kid isn’t around.
- drink beer
- May go drive a Mini Cooper S cause I’m curious...

That sounds amazing, I may go camping tomorrow if the gasket on the 944 is easier than planned and done in time to load it up.

I’m okay with it. I work Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesdays but I get next weekend off, next weekend is also payday and it’ll also be stocktake weekend and I won’t be there. Yay.
Someone else other than me will have to count the several million pounds sterling of stock we have. Shame. Lol.

I’ll be competing in a Club Trial for my first motorsports event of the year. This year there is a points series for the Club Trials program, which is a time trials race that runs alongside the Club Race SCCA events. MSR Cresson 1.7 CCW is my default home track, but it’s been awhile since I’ve run it. The last few races there were CW, even though CCW is the normal direction.
I should be able to set a new personal best, but the worst I can do in my class is second (even though turnout is good overall with what’ll be a crowded 28 car run group).

Skiing is a solid plan, I recommend that option! That’s what I’ll be doing. Conditions were pretty decent Thursday and after the powdery snow storm that night, it was amazing today. It’s been like swimming through moguls. Other than that, I’ll be eventually embarking on the six hour drive home in my Miata. Hopefully not through another snow storm haha.

Just a 2006 at a local lot. I just want to try one out(this one really isn’t on my radar to buy but it’s close) and also see if it’s more kid friendly than the 944 or if I’d have to bump up to a clubman.
I’ve heard 2007-10 had timing chain issues, do you know if that is true for the clubman as well?

The 08-10 Cooper S variants (all models) used the N14 which was notorious for different issues, particularly the timing chains. The 2011+ models used the N18 which was a much more reliable engine.
The R53 is going to be more kid friendly than a 944 but the back seats are still rather small. They are a real riot to drive though.

One of my favorite colors for the svx after white, strangely enough.
The one I test drove was pretty beat and they wanted over 5k for it

My friend’s is very nice, old guy was the original owner. He has a Starion too, pieced it together from three parts cars.
