I honestly quite liked it. It wasn’t as over the top as others, not trying too hard while actually achieving less, and also seemed less heavily scripted. It was almost like some earlier TG episodes before they tried to reinvent the wheel and outperform the last one with every single episode. The heck you even got an idea of what these cars would be like to drive. I’d like to see more of this than coral-car-reef shenanigans or cars with meat bodies.

I’ve not long finished watching it.

It was pretty good. I’d like to see more of it certainly.

I haven’t seen this most recent episode, but I thought the car body made of meat was pretty funny. Almost as funny as a car body made of bricks...

With them dragging the Namibia special out for two episodes because they “got lost” and Clarkson’s stupid ideas like the human back-up camera, I think this new show is relying hard on the “look at these idiots” shtick. Which, to be honest, I am OK with.

Wrong episode. That one was funny though.

I liked it to, I am just not on board with “The American” driver. It seems to forced to play into our stereotypes. Not that I can’t laugh at it, I just don’t think its very funny.

He had a fucking RWD V8 sedan, what more would this fictional character want? They should have let him heap praise on it or at least complain that they don’t let him drive sth like that more often, so that “it” seems more like an actual person than just a flat caricature. They really missed out on a chance to develop that character and give it a little more depth.

i agree. I am tired of the crapping on americans thing with these hackneyed stereotypes or at least make fun of americans but show some critical thinking about some good crap american cars or people are capable of.

Here’s what The Grand Tour needs to do.

1. Keep Conversation Street ridiculous. It was pretty boring at first, but with the cheesy intro becoming more and more outrageous as the series goes on it’s pretty entertaining, and the closest they can get to doing the news like they used to on TG.

2. Drop Celebrity Brain Crash. They made their point about not having celebrity interviews on GT because it’s too similar to what they did on TG in the first episode. And James May’s “Does that mean he/she’s not coming on?” is just annoying at this point. Create a new section for whatever Clarkson has up his sleeve to “replace” Celebrity Brain Crash and do that instead.

3. Drop the American schtick. It’s not that I, as an American, am offended - it just doesn’t work. Mike Skinner is a great driver, so just let him drive without making all the bad jokes.

4. Let Clarkson, Hammond, and May be Clarkson, Hammond, and May, which is what they do best. The first few episodes seemed a bit forced, but it’s improved with time, with the chemistry that makes those three so awesome together coming back naturally, which is how it should be.

I agree with the rest.

I honestly am conflicted about the Grand Tour. When the three amigos are on and natural, they are brilliant, but it seems those moments are so rare that the show isn’t really enjoyable for me.

Almost everything feels forced and contrived. I get that you have to setup situations but I’m over it.

Another car show if great but the whole show feels a bit cartoonish for me. The American, the does that mean they aren’t coming on , ....... The Namibia finish would have just been better if they had just driven down and gotten stuck vs whatever the hell that zipline thing was.

Most of the issues I had with the last few years of Top Gear are present and accounted for. I’m a whole lotta meh about it at this point.

Exactly my thoughts. I quite like The American as a name, and he’s clearly a great driver, but the intro needs scrapping and his jokes are meh at best.

I’ve loved every single episode of TGT so far, and this one may well be my second favourite. My favourite’s probably gotta be the second part of the Namibia special. Mostly because of the dildo fight. In fact, entirely because of the dildo fight.
