don’t think so, but our standards are somewhat aligned with Europe, so we do only by default.

In all fairness, Mustangs only crash sideways and Ford knows that.

Something’s very weird about this. How does a car get a 5 star rating from the NHTSA and then a 2 star rating from its Australian counterpart? The tests don’t even seem all that different; full-width frontal, offset frontal, pole test, etc. That can only mean one thing. Either the NHTSA is either seriously inflating the Mustang’s rating or ANCAP is seriously under-rating it. What would be the point of either agency doing this?

I didn’t even think it was possible for a mainstream manufacturer like Ford to make a global car that scores that low in a crash test. :O Last time I’ve seen something like that was 10 years ago.

This has all been reported already, but basically Ford left out passive safety gear for the European market.

In addition the airbags, which are necessarily a different spec compared to the American market ones because of different regs, didn’t do their job properly.

In summary Ford designed the car solely to meet US testing and didn’t expect it to be tested by Euro NCAP.

They ignored Euro NCAP second row requirements. If you review the published results the rear passenger completely fails and it drags the entire score down FMVSS / US NCAP won’t have second row impact scores (besides side impact) until MY2019 launch vehicles.

So expect the executive drive vehicles at ford to all be RHD to fill the build quota for the next two years?

I remember Chrysler handing out a lot of Crossfires to senior management when they didn’t sell.
