There was a light rain when I left the house. It had rained pretty hard the night before. I took my normal route, through the mountains of West Virginia. My commute is about 40 minutes of back roads. Going over two mountains. The sleet started about a mile away from home.

At the top of the first mountain the sleet had turned into snow. At this point I had no idea how much it had rained the night before. I was having a blast on the snowy roads.

I spent 5 minutes in a snow storm and then..... WATER! It was everywhere, and it was deep.

I drove through this one, but turned around soon after. I’ve never encountered flooded roads like this before. This is where I called off of work. So now I had to drive through the snow storm again to get home. Honestly, I found the whole thing amusing. Light rain to sleet to snow storm to flooded roads, and then in reverse.

It’s been a weird crazy winter. I’m in Chicagoland, and we’ve been getting tons of rain, and hardly any snow (not that I’m complaining!)

Of course, the one time we got snow more than 4", the pull cord on my snowblower snapped. Now it’s fixed, and there hasn’t been anything more than a flurry since then.

It has been surprisingly warm this winter. We’ve had a few days in the 60's.

We came darn close to 60 this past Saturday. It was glorious!

It’s been nice to be able to stand outside in January without it hurting.

I agree. I’m not a fan of the “Polar Vortex”.

No, me neither.

Right after the polar vortex, my wife and I were driving around. We have been casually and not at all seriously looking at other houses online, and I realized we were near one of the houses we were most interested in. It has a six (SIX!) car car garage, so you can guess why I was interested in it. Anyways, the house was unoccupied, so we got out of the truck to snoop around and peer in the windows. The first thing my wife noticed, was water coming out from behind one of the garage doors ... not good. Then we went around back, and we noticed at the bottom of the stairs leading to an exterior basement door, was a pool of water about 6-10" deep ... really not good. Then we looked in the patio door. Coming down from the second floor was an absolute water fall from a burst pipe. It had been going for quite some time, as drywall was coming down not just from the ceiling, but from the walls too. We emailed the realtor to let her know what was up with her listing. She responded that the owners hadn’t thought to turn the heat on, or shut the water off, during the polar vortex.

Haha! Bummer on the loss of a 6 car garage.

Serious question... Do I need authorship to post on LALD? I like finding pictures of cars that are questionably Diecast. I feel like these posts should be LALD

You do, but that’s pretty easy to get. All you have to do is comment on a LaLD post and ask.

Well, serious answer: LaLD has guidelines for using pictures, it’s not anything goes when it comes to using pictures that aren’t your own. You need authorship. And if you keep posting Méharis it’s all good with me ;-)
