Kinja'd!!!

Okay, I’m not, but who doesn’t want swanky aluminum air cleaners and ‘50s cars with 400hp ?

TRI POWER SUPER MARAUDER has just jumped to the top of the Best Names For Car Parts Ever list.

I KNOW I KNOW. Look at this thing, though. I’ve bought parts from these guys before, and was wondering how hard it would be to set up the Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine as a Super Marauder for like the 9th time when I discovered they’d actually ordered a batch of casts. Right when I was wondering how hard it would be to modify FE manifolds and/or cast my own, it turns out that’s what they were doing some time in the past few months. The mad bastards.

I may have to do things piecewise, though, because SWEET FANCY MOSES THAT’S EXPENSIVE

Piecewise would be buying a used manifold for $$$, buying three carbs and modifying them for $$, getting fuel pump mods ($), and then probably finally buying the air cleaner assembly outright because shiny.

Glorious indeed, but yeah sweet shit that’s expensive. Any way to make some other manifold work and use better carbs, then put the fancy cherry on top?

The original manifolds were actually cast by Mooneyes (!). Flow is presumably great. The intake ports are actually a more-or-less match for an FE, so an FE tripower manifold *could* be modified... Obsoive:

The MEL doesn’t use an integral valley cover, but supposedly...

The tricky part would be whether or not the interface diameters for that sweet, sweet repro cap would match, and the centers distance. One thing worth note is that an expert would spot it instantly, since the thermostat housing is different and the carbs are pointed opposite directions. Oh wait, pfft. I TOTALLY CARE

I’m sorely disappointed in the lack of good gifs from The Producers of Nathan Lane’s fund raising.

I can imagine a some old Ford stickler fainting in his shiny jacket at a C&C someday.

Oh, I’m sure a real stickler would faint at SUPER MARAUDER in a ‘59 anyway - despite the fact that there were probably still some kits from ‘58 left to be sold for ‘59 models. Anyway, de-tilting the carb beds and lining them back up for normal carbs is probably not a bad idea in the first place, seeing as how the normal 2300 Holleys are probably more available and there’s no need to stay under a low hood.
