Coming this summer as part of a Work and travel program, some of you might remember me posting about this.
Since me and a friend decided not to buy into the
premium
program, it’s up to us to find a job. And it’s becoming pretty discouraging. I’ve sent dozens of e-mails and even more batches.
I know e-mail isn’t the most efficient communication tool when it comes to looking for a job, but hey, I’m in Croatia so it’s not easy to walk into someplace with a CV in my hands. I’ve also tried some skype calls, but they too rarely answer. I’m also applying through some websites such as indeed and zippy app.
Anyway the deadline for my application is coming soon, and since I’m pretty close to panicking, I’ve decided to ask you guys for help. If are in California and you own a business and need a pair of hands this summer, please contact me. Or if some of you know someone who can recommend me or if you know of a place hiring students. OOooor if you know of a better way to look, that would also help.

You do realize that California is like 8x the size of Croatia, right? It’s 1240km long north-south, 400km wide, and 424,000 sq/km. The north end is further from the south end than Zagreb is from Copenhagen. San Francisco to Los Angeles is like Zagreb to Zurich.
You might want to mention what metro you’ll be around, at least.

Any work! The agency doesn’t allow for heavy manual labor, though, or operating forklifts and similar heavy equipment.
But yeah, I’d be happy doing anything from bartending, cleaning hotel rooms or retail.

Looking for any type of work, unless it’s heavy manual labor or something that includes operating industrial equipment (my W&T agency doesn’t allow for this type of work).

Oh, sure. I’m aiming for the Bay area, from Oakland all the way to Santa Cruz or Monterey. But, if an opportunity comes up, I could move further south, no problems. Only LA could be a bit difficult as you really need a car to live and work there, as far as I understand. But San Francisco or San Diego are fair game.

I mean, it’d be shophand work, but it is largely manual labor so I don’t know if that’d fit your guidelines. I have one college student on staff doing that part time now, not sure what his summer plans are. This is a fun part of CA though, if you get some time to explore come to San Luis Obispo.
