All signs point to it being AWD. So it lost 200 lbs? Woohoo, easier to do than you think for a car that weighs 4500 and still add that front diff.
Jalopnik stories and comments are constantly puking out the “why would you put drag radials on the front of a RWD car?” argument.

ppl are saying that because dodge didnt offer AWD in the V8 as then didnt have anything that was strong and small enough to be fit into it and still take the power.
I’m thinking they are there simply so you can rotate tires when you burn out the rears first.

I’ve gotta ask. What do you make of the numbers on the plate? The best idea I saw was pretty far down in the comments, it was that it means 2,576lb/ft at the wheels @35 wheel rpm. Same commenter said the Hellcat made 4,XXX at the same RPM. So that’d also point AWD.

Because dodge specifically said with their challenger GT concept that they are unable to fit both a hemi and their awd system in the challenger body, even though its based off the charger. I would totally save and buy an AWD 392 with a stick if they build one.

TBH they should have done this years ago. I get the whole RWD thing, but I live in the hills of pennsylvania and just a set of snow tires doesn’t cut the mustard around here. I do plan on my next car purchase to be a v6 gt.
Sergio is crazy, but I can’t honestly think why they would lie. It would be a huge mic drop to ford and chevy.

So I just posted this on the FP but:
Wheel torque at 350 km/h? With M6 gears that would be 217 mph in 6th, with a 3.70 rear yielding 5990 RPM. Doing some really rough calculations back that is 962 ft/lbs. It’s a lot of torque but it is a theory.It calculates way too high of a horsepower under basic calculations though, so gearing could be a factor or I am totally wrong.

While that certainly makes sense, and I would do it if I worked for chevy, it’s kinda impossible. What chevy is doing with handling on the camaro is certainly impressive, but they aren’t advertising to you and me, they are advertising to the average joe. Joe sees dodge’s bitchin ads and a 700 hp car and he kinda tunes out after that.

No it was wheel torque at 35 rpm at the wheels (both rpm and torque) I’m guessing wheel rpm and torque is used more often in drag racing than in normal car talk.

35 RPM at the wheels (assuming current Hellcat ratios) is less than 3 mph@293RPM crank. I think it could be pounds of thrust which is more commonly used to determine acceleration at 350 km/h, the most realistic answer is blower displacement and manifold absolute pressure though.

Actually, if you convert 2576 from N-m to lb-ft it yields 1899. Running the numbers for a manual would yield 217mph@6087 RPM with 785hp/679 lb-ft.
