The view from my breakfast table. Monterey is purty.
I don’t speak until 3 pm today. I should be hanging out at the conference and networking but I can’t make myself do it. Between the cost of sponsorship (my logo is all over the place), and the cost of having myself and both my associates here for 2 days (expense plus lost billing) is depressing. Shit. I keep telling myself it is worth it because they are good employees who deserve the perk of a couple of days here. It is also good to invest in their networking and futures for growth and employee retention.
But god damn, this couple of days is costing me more than the Sunchaser restoration. I need to stop doing that math.

It’s good to help employees out with networking. I try to tell my department staff that I want them to be successful even if they’re not with us. In practice we have a pretty low turnover here, so I guess it must be working.
