Front plates are so fucking stupid.

Iowa recently passed a front plate exemption for classics and “sports cars”.

Law enforcement was part of the argument. “officers often have technology that scans license plates while driving and (he) worries removing one of them could make it harder for them to do their job, especially when it comes to tracking down Amber Alert victims”. (Ia Rep. Clel Baudler)

Agreed, which is why the M3 drove around sans front plates.

Plot twist: The front plate is the one that stays. ;)

Don’t blame you. I’m lucky because most old american cars have special little places in the bumpers made to accept a plate but they just look so out of place on a swoopy modern car.

Kinja'd!!!

Looks so much better with no plate. At least your car looks like the plate belongs on it.

“The sooner the better”? I thought people from Mizzou didn’t like Oklahomans?

I know a state rep here in Texas and have been begging him to introduce a bill to remove our front plate requirement. He absolutely refuses due to law enforcement’s desire to keep both plates. I fight the power by not having a front plate on either of my cars.

Yeah that’s the thing. I also have cool restored 1970 plates so I like to show them off. But on modern cars? ew. I’ve seen some people in Toronto make vinyl stickers of plates that they stick on the car.

That’s such BS. I doubt anyone could read the front plates of any moving car with reliability. These cars are only found because they know make and model. The plate is just confirmation.

Plates are most used for mailing radar tickets

I am very much in favor of this... but, ummm, not because I live in Missouri or anything... :D

As a somewhat-recently new resident of Ohio (2 plates) from PA (1 plate) I very much would appreciate the front one going away. Ugly, expensive, serves as nothing but a nice reflector for laser speed traps.

Kinja'd!!!

for new cars just slap one of these on.

For classic cars, it really is dumb. I;m sure if a call of a 58 red Thunderbird is out, police would be able to figure out which is which.

“...harder for them to do their job.” In other words, harder for them to generate revenue and meet ticket quotas, because that’s all it is.

I’m from Missouri, but have lived in Oklahoma for 17 years, and my kids are native-born Okies. So conflicted.
