I’ve been Type 1 diabetic since I was 5. MTM was THE voice for our disease, and the few other celebrities with it do not campaign for a cure. I hope someone takes up the torch and continues the fight. RIP Mary.

Ron Santo was a very vocal JDRF supporter. Hope someone continues their fight.

99% of general Dibeetus advertising (Brinkley included) is aimed at Type 2 and therefore not applicable to the situation.

As the youngest/most media-friendly, I’m hoping Nick Jonas takes a step forward on it. He’s been semi-vocal before, but not consistently so. It would go a far way towards helping kids accept it in themselves if he speaks up and stays present.

I’ve been Type 1 since I was 2. Losing MTM is unfortunate (in more ways than this, obviously), and I too hope that someone else who is as noticeable as she was, with the same opportunities of mass recognition, steps up and continues the fight.
