Whatcha got? Prizes awarded for highest and lowest scores! A friend of mine asked me this question today, as I’m now approaching the dawn of my 5th decade of life. Right now, my ratio is 9.75:1 (I’m 39 today and my car is a 4.0), and I made the joke that I should try to keep it below 10 for as long as I can - about time for that stroker...? Bought my e30 at 22 so I was at 8.8:1 but that’s now at 10.2:1. WRX isn’t helping at 13:1.
I prefer horsepower to age as a ratio because there are some massive displacement engines that make very little actual power (Muricah!). That comes out to 10.3:1 for the Subie.
