Did you see what this sold for? I was surprised it went so low

I’m a little surprised, but not that much. I’d heard overall zeal at Barrett Jackson was down a little this year, and that sets both the “why not” threshold and the tendency for people to go nuts on things outside the normal lines. “Why not” being the price at which somebody will buy almost anything quirky because they have money left over from the big fights, and I think this year it was ~$20k. Something worth less than $20k benefits from that, but something worth more definitely doesn’t - and ‘58/’60 unibodies are definitely in an interest gap.

Basically, what I’m saying is that that one sold for floating bottom dollar, and not a stereotypical Barrett Jackson price.

Did you see in my other post my dealer promo ‘59? I’ve also got a can of Peacock Green ordered in that I’m going to try out this weekend.

Just looked at it pretty cool. Looks to be almost the same color as well. That brake job looked like a bit of a rough time.

And did you buy the Peacock to just test and see if it is a similar color? Or are you planning on painting something this weekend?

The Mark IV two-door *is* supposed to be Peacock Green, but 58 years of fading of the colored acetate and an imperfect match to start with... anyway I’m also looking for a Galaxie boxtop dealer promo in Champagne so I can miniature All The Things. As to paint, I’m trying out Paintscratch.com. They offer touch-up mixing for pretty much any color and any format for anything - pens, small bottles, whole cans, and even custom mix 12oz spray cans, which is what I’m trying out. I got a can each of Champagne and Peacock Green, and they came with little test cards to spray on and compare to existing finish - they offer to work with you for a better match if there’s a card-test issue, which is nice.

Not planning on painting anything this weekend, but I probably *will* try my new pipe bender to make front fender repair piece dies. Not sure how the hood repair die needs to work yet.

As another note, the top ball joints on the Lincoln are, I believe, the same as the Ford exactly, and the brakes are similar as well other than shoe/drum width. So, this job will be repeated at some point.

That’s nice they’re similar give you some practice with one to perfect the other.

Also good they will work with you on the paint it sounds like that is a good place to buy it from.
