I’m really starting to worry that Kinja (sans Oppo and sometimes the FP) is way too toxic for me. It’d be one thing if it were out of sight, out of mind, but with cross-posts and the dreaded “ You may also like ,” you can’t help but see it. I am a registered Democrat, but most of the posts and comments on the other blogs seem, honestly, like people are just being sore fucking losers. So sore, in fact, that they come here, to the Internet, to start political circle jerks day after day after day. Worryingly, I’ve seen some comments explicitly inciting violence garner 100+ stars. That’s out of hand. And even the “good” stories that get published (reluctantly, I’m sure) end up getting twisted to fit people’s social justice agenda.

I’m all for rich Trump supporters to throw around money while desperately telling everyone they meet that they’re not racist. I get the impulse, and the $450 is crazy generous. But saying the equivalent of, “Oh, you’re one of the good ones. Here’s some money.” still seems off putting.
Why is that necessary to say? So that the thousands of other entirely like-minded commenters can see what you have to say and note how goddamn woke you are for making the point?

that’s the shitty part. not only are people being sore losers, Trump supporters (some at least) are being sore winners. It’s like they feel the need to grind people’s faces into it. kind of like a couple of grade-schoolers fighting. The bigger kid has you down on the ground, and is still pounding you with his knee in your back. I mean, I was at the gym last night and the TV had CNN on; they were discussing how the Orange Bezoar is still complaining about “millions of illegitimate votes.” Does he really want to contest this election? We don’t have a mechanism for do-overs (as far as I know) but if we did he definitely wouldn’t want one.
