It’s been a long time since the Eclipse name was attached to a cool car. The 90s was the peak for these. Then it started the 2000s as the car you’d buy when the local Dodge dealer was out of Stratuses. After that, Mitsu decided to bring the car back to it’s roots, but slathered it with lard and left it in the microwave too long.

A Cool Eclipse is a forever-ago car, and the newly acquired subsidiary of Nissan who killed the Evo wasn’t about to bring us a proper resurrection. Is it sad that it’s now a crossover? A little bit, but nothing of value has been lost.

Agree - they probably don’t have money to go through the process of securing/registering/trademarking a new name, so they dug through their paper files and found “Eclipse” and thought, “that’ll do.”

Anybody else think that it’s about time to put ole’ Mitsu down? It’s not even close to what it use to be, ever since they stopped making the 3000GT and Turbo Eclipse they haven’t made anything worth buying (barring the Evo).

My Dad liked Mitsubishis, but usually not the ones most people would buy. He liked the Colt, and the Colt Vista. For me, I always felt they just never developed the cars enough. Always something that left me feeling slightly disappointed in an otherwise good car.
