I am waiting for a dentist to fix my broken tooth. I have dentistphobia. I am a big baby about dental work.
There are interesting cars in the lot, though. And I saw this on the way here:
If I survive, my brake pads for the Vespa arrived.
I’d like to install these.
I don’t think Pumpkin is worried about me. I have an appointment with Dave at Infiniti tomorrow. Of course, if I don’t make it, my wife can liquidate, take the life insurance and drive a much nicer car.
If I die on the table [chair?], should I bequeath the Sunchaser to Oppo? I will be numb shortly.

I’m usually more scared of the bill than I am the actual dentistry. I actually find it to be calming, especially when the work they do involves numbing the mouth. I had a deep gum cleaning in high school, and I actually kind of enjoyed it. Then again I found the surgery I had after graduating high school to be comfortable.
I’m an odd individual.

I once had 3 wisdom teeth taken out on an hour lunch break with only Novacane and went right back to work! Sadly I can’t grow a beard and drive a minivan so kinda kills my manly street cred.:)

So, my dentist when I was a kid was a small town guy, really nice, did good work (according to every dentist I’ve had since). If he was doing a cleaning and found a cavity, he didn’t make you come back and do it some other time, he’d do it right then. Which was nice, most of the time. One time, I had a cavity, and so they numbed it, started...uhh...didn’t take. Tried it again, no dice...third time, still could feel it. Apparently my nerve wasn’t in the spot it normally is...dentist was now bumping against his next appointment, so he says “uhh, we don’t have time to wait for another shot at the Novocaine, we’re just going to have to do this. I nearly broke the arms off the chair holding on for dear life as I felt every drill. I was sore for days from tensing my whole body.
I still like the guy and see him every once in a while, but man...that was rough.

Hope your appointment goes well! I’ve been lucky enough to have done well with my past dental procedures: getting braces on and off, having 8 teeth removed: 4 wisdom, 4 molars.

My brother-in-law is a dentist.
Pro: He gives my wife (his sister) unlimited dental care for $5/visit.
Con: His dental office is 1:45 away and we have dental coverage anyway so it’s not like it’s really saving us all that money after gas.
Pro: She trusts his dentistry.
Con: He voted for Trump, my wife and I are hippies, and politics cause family discomfort. We usually don’t talk about it as a family except for when my mother-in-law “accidentally” includes us on her forwarding of right-wing propaganda email.
Pro: He keeps a fully-stocked bar in his basement for which he prints up new menus on a quarterly basis.
I’d say the bar menus slightly tilt the balance in his favor but it’s been pretty stressful for us hippies the past few days.
