But instead they played it safe again and made an okay car. It sounds like a Flex, drives like a Taurus and has very very nice seats. But at $80k it just isn’t enough for the money. Grow a pair, Lincoln. Give us RWD and suicide doors.

EDIT: Price is $80k CDN. Not sure about American pricing

Don’t they start at $44,000?

Well, if you get the Black Label with EVERY OPTION AVAILABLE, then you’ll hit that. They start at half of that, though, and the top-of-the-line Black Label starts at $63k.

Exhaust mods, AWD version, and aftermarket door hinges gets you *most* of the way there, at least.

Forgot you were in Canada. At least you get TVRs.

I don’t get your point. This car starts at $44,000, which is entirely reasonable. No one will buy the $80,000 version except...well probably no one. That’s like saying a Camaro SS isn’t worth $65,000. Well maybe not, so don’t buy that one.

EDIT: Forgot you were Canadian. Still, $40,000 USD is $57,000 CAD. You’re telling me they’re $23,000 CAD more expensive up in Canadia?

I just went and looked at one. The styling overall is nice and the interior rocks, but I’m disappointed with the price and, most of all, the execution of the door handles. Suicide doors would have been pretty bad ass and a real statement, but I didn’t expect that anyway.

What bothers is me is how cheap and plastic they feel. I expected some sort of heavy, metal handle. If you try them out you’ll see what I mean.

Yeah they have a little button with an annoying tiny delay to open. Not a great first contact point on a luxury car.

Agreed. It’s good, but in a world where Cadillac, Volvo, and even Hyundai are dishing out fantastic executive sedans at reasonable prices, “good” isn’t anywhere near good enough.

Nailed it. That money buys you so much now. Hyundai is killing it these days and the CT6 is also pretty good.

It seems like what Lincoln has done is built themselves an Acura RLX.

I have yet to see one in person. Although maybe I have, and I just haven’t noticed it. Not a good thing, Lincoln.

Speaking of American Luxury sedans, I did happen upon a base model ATS down the street the other day and couldn’t get over how generic and boring that car looked in its predictable silver color. I know not a direct comparison to this Lincoln, but man, I was disappointed in its boringness.

CTS owner here (my wife’s car, 3.6V6 AWD). I saw the CT6 PHEV at the NAIAS.

That car is NUTS! Weighs less than the CTS by about 400 pounds. 0-60 in 5.2 and 65 MPGe. 10/10 would drive before the Conti.

Let’s call this like it is: the Continental’s closest competitor is the Cadillac XTS. Big comfy fwd American land yacht with available awd. Their starting prices are both around $45k US. Seems like a fair price for what it is. Whether it makes sense to get an optioned-up turbo one when there are other more performance-y luxury cars out there is another question.
