The successor for the Pilot Super Sport is the Pilot Sport 4S... and they’re basically only making it in 19" and 20"?! What the actual... I can’t get the PSS in stock AP1 S2000 size (16"), but have been thinking about getting AP2 wheels (17"), which has been supported on the PSS. Guess I’m still stuck with Bridgestone and Continental.

Yeah, I agree with you, wtf?!? I was excited till saw only making big tire sizes. Maybe they’ll come out after a while.

Thats pretty typical, when I bought my duratracs they were pretty new and had a pretty limited size range, now its pretty inclusive.

Guess I can save my money then.

There’s newer alternatives - Continental’s ExtremeContact Sport is coming out soon and the Firestone Indy 500 (Bridgestone RE003 outside the US) come to mind.

I hope/figure that they would expand to more sizes, but seems to me like they are missing a pretty large section of sizes, a lot of people race on 17's & 18's.

I’m sure they’ll eventually expand to more sizes.

Read Farah’s review on The Drive. 17s and 18s will be out later.

I actually have the Conti DWs in AP2 sizes right now - they’re definitely softer than the cheapo Nexens they replaced, but that’s the only data point I have on this car.

Just read Matt Farah’s article about these tires over on thedrive.com , said 19-21 will be out this year, smaller sizes next year. So just wait I guess.

Softer in terms of the compound or the sidewall, or both?

I have the Firehawk Oval all-seasons that were on the car when I bought it, and they are sketchy af in the rain. Much more confident now on my winter tires, even with 205's all around and squishy sidewalls. The rears on the Firehawks are down to ~30% tread remaining, so I’m just going to upgrade all four in the spring.

Sidewall, I think. Ride is soft but feel and turn-in are correspondingly soft too. Which is fine if you’re looking for that kind of thing, but a lot of people aren’t.

The ExtremeContact Sports are supposed to be “85% stiffer” according to the marketing. ¯\_()_/¯
