Post beautiful german cars to cheer me up, it’s been a rough day so far.
Blower motor died this morning so I had to use a rag on the windshield to see, there was a giant accident on the highway entrance, another on the highway, and when I went to get off, the exit was backed up onto the highway, and after waiting a few minutes a line forms behind me and then I notice the car in front of me has his hood up, so I angrily go around him spinning my tires. Fun

Hey, at least it shouldn’t be too hard to replace a blower motor in an E28.

I need to find out what happened to it first, I had it on the max speed and then it just stopped, none of the speeds worked. And the fuses are fine, well they are browning even though they are new.

Yeah I guess the first step is to see what the problem is. I know you’ve got a 533i, making it at least 33-34 years old, depending on build date, so if it’s still getting power, then it might have just died.

I bet your blower motor resistor went out. Squirrel cage motors don’t typicaly fail electrically. Bearings can wear out, but you’d notice that.

Generally don’t care much for German cars, but the E46 M3 in Laguna Seca Blue on OEM 18" wheels pushes my buttons something fierce .

It looks like the people on the forums are actually referring to the fan blades, those are not squirrel cage motors. So it’s possible you need brushes, but I’d start with the resistor.
