For an old Cadillac that somehow hasn’t been ruined in an attempt to make a lowrider, I’d say $2000 is NP. That said, I’d say NP to any Cadillac or Caprice that isn’t on Daytons.

425 was same architecture as the 472/500, so hop-up parts are available but not SBC-cheap. with that much displacement a stupid amount of power is possible.

“Please don’t waste my time or yours”....who is he to tell me what to do with my time? Maybe I have some time I’ve allotted to virtually kicking tires with no intention to buy? I can respect his request to not waste his time...it’s his time, but who is he to tell me what to do with my time? Maybe I have time that I want to waste, and otherwise would be preoccupied with less benign and banal things. I don’t think I’m going to follow up on this lead just because I don’t like strangers telling me what I should or shouldn’t do with my time. Good Day, Sir!

Price Motorsports makes an adapter to fit a Ford 460 manifold on a Cadillac motor. You could run a 6-71, dual quads, and a fat cam on a 425 cube Cadillac.

We used to have the 4 door version of this (Fleetwood, same year too) in the mid 80's.
That thing was a tank. One time we were rear ended sitting in a jug handle. We were the third car in the accident. A 79 Coupe de Ville rear ended a Dodge Dart, which rear ended us. The Coup de Ville had a busted headlight and a bit of body damage on the front drivers side. The Dodge Dart that was pushed into us was accordioned, our Fleetwood had a quarter size dent in the rear bumper. That Dart never stood a chance.

Then drop the ride height using proper coil springs and shocks, put it on deep dish concave 8 hole steelies with yellow letter tires, install a mini spool, and run two Varex mufflers to have NASCAR thunder on demand. Now it’s a hilariously epic burnout machine.

I was hit while sitting in my parked deville at the mall once. It took off about an inch of paint on my car and squashed the entire front passenger side of the car that hit me. I still feel bad for laughing as the guy kept apologizing to me.

Great old-school ride for the money! I bought a white one from an impound auction 15 years ago for $50. that was great fun...although the previous owner did a terrible patch job on the van-size radiator. I had to replace it within a month. I read that bad boy all over for 6 months and then gave it to the landlord in lieu of rent lol.
