It's a Jeep thing. Am I doing it right?

Because you forgot to take off the rest.

I thought of doing it(not for a repair or anything) to my XJ. But properly with tubes and such to stiffen it. I may look like a douche but I’ll be happy.

It’s a GMT400 thing you wouldn’t understand.

Hinge pins?

I did it on my ‘95 XJ. It was fun and all, but I’ve had my ‘97 XJ for a long time now and don’t ever see myself doing it again.

Every 3,000 miles or 6 months on a GM product!

I fully understand... why the hinge bushings fail so often. Also, why I get 13 MPG and this thing has a curb weight of a small moon. GOOD GAWD that door is heavy. I used to own a 1983 LTD Crown Vic coupe, and that 10 foot long door had nothing on a GMT400 door!

Lack of lubrication and its a gm thing. The truck is a frame on body with an enclosed body so that is where the weight is. Also the brakes suck on these trucks. So mushy I can’t tell if they had air in the lines, no fluid, or a dead master cylinder. The benefits of these trucks outweigh the cons. Except the brakes.

It’s like stepping in a bowl of jello. They do the job, but it would be nice to upgrade them at some point.

Close... I believe the spare wheel goes on the roof. Or maybe the hood? And you should unzip those rear side windows for better wind-noise at highway speed

In the end I probably won’t just because I don’t want to deal with wiring quick disconnects and then having to take the doors on and off again.

My ‘95 had crank windows. They were a motivating force in the project since the only wiring was the front door speakers.

Good points. I’ve been looking for ways to lower my gas mileage!

Mine has power windows, door locks and power mirrors. The quick disconnects I’ve found don’t have enough wire spots.

My biggest problem is I still want it available for daily use. I thought of doing something like that instead of bars though. But it doesn’t look as nice.
