That’s how it works. I’ve been to a bunch of kid birthdays and some other social events over the last year....And nobody has asked what I do for a living. That’s pretty refreshing.

Sometimes clients attempt to name-drop their own occupation, as if I would treat them differently, for no reason. VP of operations at Who Cares Inc., engineer [air quotes] at Boeing, architects... It usually goes like this.

“Hi, great to finally meet—”

Girlfriend went to Oxford, and rented a cheap apartment close by. Also rented out her dorm to rich kids that didn’t get in .... so they could say they “went to oxford”. Apparently people really like saying they went somewhere.

You should have asked them if they went to school there too.

Well, I got back in 6 hours later after my grade replacement went through, so I got to attend the next semester. They counted it as a fail out though.

There’s an economics program that the bank (who we share a building with) puts on in local schools. My firm volunteers for one of the schools that we designed, the program didn’t get many outside volunteers this year so they were short volunteers. I got volunteered (I think almost our entire office will be teaching classes tomorrow, lol)

Interesting. I know I always tip heavy when a waitress is pregnant. I don’t recall ever doing so for an engagement, but I may have.

When I delivered pizza in high school, I discovered I got better tips if I wrapped my shoes in duct tape. I guess people just felt sorry for me.

The youngins are the one age group I haven’t taught. I’ve taught college, high school, and middle school. Since elementary shop class isn’t a thing in the US (in Finland it’s mandatory starting in 3rd grade), I reckon that one will stay off my resume.
