Kinja'd!!!

Someone at trinity college Dublin drives a Dacia Sandero!

Other spottings from the last couple days in Ireland include all sorts of tasty French cars, funky little work vans I never knew existed, a Jag XF taxi, wagons of all shapes and sizes, several i8's, a Nissan Figaro, a Fiat Multipla(!!!), and this minty fresh last gen FoST:

Also, even though I notice every time I come to Europe, I’m still surprised by how EVERYTHING is a three pedal! There’d be more pictures if my Irish cousins didn’t already think I was crazy for getting excited about what, to them, are random normal hatchbacks.

More to come as I will probably be wandering around on my own in the next couple days.

Kinja'd!!!

Even their rental cars have three pedals! Rented a B180 in Germany in 2013 and was really happy it came with a stick as I needed to practice.

Genius! Wear out the rental company’s clutch instead of your own

Being an American I didn’t have access to a manual car, had to be able to drive whatever M car I got, and I was able to drive my E90 no problem the day I got it.

Yeah I had exactly that problem when I bought my first car, I couldn’t test drive it because I couldn’t drive manual, and I had to find a friend to come out and drive it home for me.

Ended up with a total lemon, and I can’t help but think I might have had better luck if I’d been able to actually drive the damn thing before I paid for it haha

That sucks, but it’s kinda hard to learn how to drive manual if you don’t have access to a manual car.

You need to hit up Charlie’s II for some American style Chinese served over French fries. The food is terrible, except when you’re hammered.

Hire cars on my side of the pond are all manual unless you pay more.

Well, today I did the Guinness Storehouse tour and learned way more than anyone needs to know about Guinness, and what exactly is the correct way to drink Guinness, and heard the word Guinness about 10,000 times, so the I guess obvious next step is to have a bunch more Guinness and go get some drunchies. I’ll check it out haha.

Guinness, the Ferrari of beer. It’s actually pretty good, but damn is it over-merchandized.

When I went over I ended up next to an Irish guy who professed that “Guinness is for tourists, Smithwick’s is what the locals drink.” Good thing I like Smithiwcks’s. Though the amount of Coors Light that people order in bars there is ridiculous when there are sooo many better options.

Dublin is great but if you want some variety take the DART up to Howth. The hike out to the end of the point is easy to get to from the station, and the town itself is neat. Taking commuter rail down to Greystones is also a cheap and scenic tour too.
