Hide the timer.
We set a timer while the new guy is on break, he comes back in. The timer goes off, we tell him he needs to take a tempture on the food cooking in the oven (but there’s nothing in the oven). He can’t find the timer, he thinks the food in the oven will be over cooked. It is hilarious.

I’m not the boss, my boss tells to hide the timer. It’s a fun harmless prank. We have more people quit then get fired, it is a really high turn over rate for staff.
