It’s a hatchback, if it had 4" more rear over hang it be a wagon.

I would call it a wagon because it has a C and D pillar with a window between.

but the top of the d-pillar in in front of the rear axle. The top of d-pillar in a wagon would be behind the rear axle.

I think that it’s still a wagon.

I owned one (non WRX/STi) and always considered it a small wagon! It’s also called a ‘Sport Wagon’ on the JDM models, so...that’s why I went with it.

Wagon, as it’s not shorter than the sedan it’s based on.

Kinja'd!!!

That one is also a wagon.

THANK YOU!

I was starting to think I was the only one that knew how to tell wagons and hatchbacks apart.

I live in Eastern Canada, so, sadly, the salted roads killed it....started to eat the body, that I had repaired, and then it started to come though again the very next year (the place that did the work is a bit sketchy....will never use them again now, but I think their work was very shoddy if it started to come back the very next year in the same place they supposedly cut out and welded a whole new piece).

Worse was the rear subframe rusted out to the point of cracking so I couldn’t even drive it. I was quoted like $2K to replace it (gas tank, drivelines....lots of stuff had to come off just to get to it) and the car had ~170,000-180,000kms or thereabouts, which isn’t much mechanically, but on salted winter roads takes it’s toll. The suspension also all needed to be replaced as the rear struts were completely shot....long story short, it was too much money for repairs on a car that was not worth it financially, as much as I loved it.

Sold it to a guy who had the same car with a completely rusted out body (the body rust wasn’t THAT bad on mine). He had his own garage, so he swapped the good suspension and subframe from his car to my car and drove it for awhile. I emailed him a few months ago out of curiosity, wondering what happened to it, and apparently the strut towers had rusted out on the rear of my old car and he had it scrapped.....sad to hear, but c’est la vie for cars that live in the salty winters up here. :(
