Why is Irish motorcycle road racing not more popular?

Everyone knows about the Isle Of Man TT, but I’ve been involved in motorsport for a long time and only recently discovered that there’s an entire championship of not just time trials, but actual wheel-to-wheel motorcycle racing on public streets. Why did it take so long to find this out, and is there any place online where I can watch them?

The racing is called North West 200 or NW200 for short and held in Northern Ireland and raced around The Triangle of Portstewart, Coleraine and Portrush. The next races are between the 9th and 13th of May and should be on BBC iPlayer but other outlets should be available if you look up NW200 or North West 200.

Guy Martin will be at the next one.

Not just the NW200, there’s a whole schedule! http://roadracingnews.co.uk/events/

The NW200 and the Ulster Grand Prix (as well as Macau) are playable on Ride 2, which is where I heard of them.

I only knew of NW200 because of Guy Martin’s FB page saying he was going to take part.
