Took the Sentra out for a four mile shakedown to make sure everything was ok. 3 miles in I put the clutch in and the car dies. Popstart it while still rolling and everything is fine, runs ok, pulls fine, but won’t idle. Few hundred feet and the engine starts knocking pretty bad. Get back to my house and it dies in the street and the starter won’t engage the flywheel. Same issue as the old starter I just replaced. Car refuses to be push-start either. Ugh. This car is getting traded off as soon as the other guy gets his title back from the state (less than a week) and of course now it decides to have all sorts of problems. Fuckin hell.

SR20? My brother had one in his NX2000. E-brake broke so he parked it in gear. Rolled and jumped teeth on the upper timing chain.

Was a blast to wind out though. Fairly long gears and a 7500 rpm redline. Took a while but sounded great.

Oh yeah, it’s a blast. The SR20DE is an excellent engine and I’d love to rebuild it properly with high compression pistons and the lot. I’m sad to see it go but I need a practical boring sedan every now and then and I don’t need a tempermental rusty dangerous old sports coupe. But of course it’s been flawless until now, a week before it has to be gone.

Brother car got written off after he hit a deer and they couldn’t find parts. It was a rust bucket though. Just put new exhaust and a clutch in it too.
