So I left the phone at home and made it Lloyd’s day. We walked all over East Dubuque and even ventured over the bridge to Dubuque. And have been rewarded with a fully pooped pupper.

Now to clean up the shop..

It was a really nice day today. I took the family out to lunch and then we drove around all afternoon. Tonight I installed a new garage door opener and worked a bit on the RallyMetro. It was nice to be able to do all that in relative warmth.

Right on!

I forgot about the Metro. How is that going? Ever since that Odyssey CL ad last year I’ve been seeing them for sale everywhere.

I’m working on installing a tow bar. I bought a piece of 2" angle iron to connect the two “frame” horns. It’s amazing how little metal there is in the front of those cars. There will be no way to install the front bumper when I’m done, because the only bits of metal with any substance are the bumper mounts. My metal fabrication skills are quite butcherific, and the results prove that. My tools are a sawzall, a 4-1/2" angle grinder, a vice, and a hammer.

I scored it a set of barely used snow tires for $50 on Craigslist. The seller turned out to be an Oppo lurker, very nice guy. I then called in a favor with a friend who mounted them for free.

I still really like the idea of getting an Odyssey. Now that I’ve sold the Roadmaster, my wife has talked me into not replacing it (I really hate when she’s right sometimes). I might use some of that money on an Odyssey whenever the front of the RallyMetro succumbs to rust/abuse. I’m assuming that’s how it’s going to die.

He’s hiding in that pic. If it’s nice next week ther’ll be a Doggo photo dump. I found some amazing hiking spots.

Darn that voice of reason! Sometimes they really are the better half though.

Sounds like you have all the tools you need for a cheap rally beater. In some cases there’s even Harbor Freight. I’m still using a lot of their cheap tools that seemed to hold up well in spite of my lackadasical care. I can’t wait to see the final product!

I’ve been slowly researching Oddys and Yikes! They’ve exploded in value suddenly. I think I’ll stick with trikes a while longer. I’m up to 3 project machines now, that should keep me broke enough occupied for a while.

Yeah, it’s true.

I’ve been collecting tools since I was 13, so I’m pretty well all set there. While I try to buy quality stuff (used on Craigslist, of course), there is definitely some of Harbor Frieght’s “finest” in there. Some of their tools are totally fine. Some of them ... not so much. I bought one of their come-alongs to pull the core support of the Roadmaster back out after my rallycross off. That one proved to be a onetime use tool, but they gave be my money back. I’m using their universal tow bar to haul the RallyMetro around, it seems pretty beefy.

I haven’t been following the Oddys lately. If they get too expensive, there’s always cheap Rangers/S-10's for me.

Oh, now I see him. Couldn’t pick him out when I saw the photo in small format on my phone.
