As cool as a shuttle armed to the teeth would be... a few hundred aircraft launch anti-satellite missiles might be a more frugal option. (Spend the money saved on a couple hundred more F-22s, a true A-10 replacement and a bunch of new superhornets for the Navy, sound good?)

I think an A-10D block upgrade would be reasonable. Many A-10Cs were given new wings to extend service life. Giving the A-10D new engines, avionics, and countermeasures could be more frugal than the F-35.
