I’ve been there a few times. My sister in law lives in Coupeville.

The military historian in sees that as a very good strategic position. I love old forts.

Awesome! We go there all the time. It’s like half a mile from the in-laws place. Was it cold and windy or just cold?

You would like Whidbey Island. Fort Casey and Ebey were built to protect the Sound during the World Wars. Casey still has a couple of its 16 inch guns you can climb on. NAS Whidbey is just down the road so ther are P-8s and F-18s buzzing around.

That sounds like fun. Probably won’t be getting out that way any time soon, though.

Forts Ebey, Worden, and Casey would’ve been quite a tringle of fire back on the day.

Fort Ebey was a part of the “Triangle of Fire” with Fort Casey and Fort Flagler. Three bases at the narrowest part of water that leads to the Puget Sound. http://www.historylink.org/File/7524 It’s cool shit. They were actually built to defend Bremerton Navy Base during the Spanish-American War.

That was my thought, “man, what a great position.”.
