Looks like the steering broke, check out 1:41 and onwards, the wheels immediately go full lock to the right once he hits the barrier.

Looks like he was looking at Massa and drifted over and strike the barrier which ripped the wheel out of his hands.

I dunno, you’d figure Weherlein would be putting a lot more lock into the wheel to avoid the barrier if he was able to. Commentators mentioned the dude riding shotgun was taking video, maybe it’ll pop up on YouTube in the next day or two.

I wasn’t aware it was on until the day before so I doubt it was that well advertised locally for people to turn up
