It seems like most of the popular car based YouTube channels seem to rely on low effort, clickbait content on stuff I have little interest in, and though I am subscribed to plenty of people, they upload randomly, and usually not very often. As a result, I’m usually lucky to have more than one new video every few days that interests me. Ive done what I can to find more stuff, but in doing so I end up have to search though hours and hours of crap. What automotive channels does Oppo watch/recommend?

I hate American cars. I don’t get hot rods. I like Japanese. But somehow Roadkill hooked me in and I can’t get enough.

Something about watching Harry talk about these cars, as a true owner who takes them on proper long trips around Europe...is just right for me.

Love roadkill - I’ve watched every episode of it, but never heard of Harry’s garage. Seems like a guy that’s really passionate about his cars, so I’ll definetly check out more of it. Thanks!

VisioRacer is pretty good, and pumps content every once in awhile

Gave them a watch - seems to be pretty good, though top 10/list channels usually aren’t my thing.

Petrolicious are a great suggestion too - never realised they uploaded so frequently. Thanks!

For me, the main two are Roadkill and Mighty Car Mods but I watch some others as well. Nauraushaun mentioned Harry’s Garage already.

MegaRetr is a pretty cool channel as he does reviews in Russian and English (he lives in Russia) and he reviews everything from BMWs and Mercs to still-built Soviet staples like the UAZ trucks and vans, plus a lot of reviews on Chinese imports and Euro imports as well - interesting to see how the auto landscape looks in Russia!

The same goes for the Driver’s High channel.....except Japan! Lots of reviews and video tours of JDM and Japanese export rides, with a little Euro thrown in for good measure!

Jay Leno’s Garage obviously has some pretty awesome tours of some pretty epic cars, and Tavarish of Jalopnik, now APIDAOnline fame has a channel where he documents a lot of his car adventures, as does Doug Demuro (now with AutoTrader).

Another cool, smaller channel is 2StrokeTurbo who is a mechanic in Oregan who specializes in classic (especially small/micro) cars and owns a fleet of Subaru 360 vans and cars, plus awesome JalOppo oddities such as DKWs a Vespa 400 fitted with a Beetle engine, and a Honda N600 project that he is installing a bike engine in.

Aging Wheels has some cool vids, as does PacificCoastAuto if you like JDM imports and Reid and Cletus’ new show (new episode on Jan. 31!) is awesome.

Harry Metcalfe used to do stuff for EVO Magazine, in print and in video. He’s since gotten a job at Jaguar Land Rover’s special ops group and does videos on his own garage, which is pretty extensive.

His top 10 list are at least have a lot of info at least. Discovered a lot of engines I didn’t know about with his videos. I like his channel because it’s honest, he doesn’t try to do more than video says and he looks like he genuinely try to bring good and interesting content. Also the only sounds you hear are from the cars, no music or something like that

Yeah, I perhaps came of fun as little harsh. The videos are detailed, seem to be very well researched, and are leagues above the usual list videos I’m used to

“I like to make stuff” is a good one. It’s not really a car channel, but he has done plently of car projects. He had a Land Cruiser for a while that he did a few off-roading mods too. And currently he’s been working on a budget Sn95 Drift build.

Even his non car stuff is so well made an throughly explained that it is always fun to watch.

I love these sort of building videos, so I’ve not got a clue how I haven’t heard of this guy yet. Big thanks for the recommendation!

I was waiting for someone else to mention Project Binky being done by Bad Obsession Motorsports, but maybe it has been mentioned enough on Oppo .

I absolutely love project Binky. Iirc, one of my first post on oppo was about it haha! It’s a shame they rarely upload, but at the same time, nothing else on the internet comes close to the sheer attention to detail of what they are doing

Ive been on Petrolicious since a long while back. About when they started with their YT channel. Absolutely love Roadkill and Matt Farrah’s work.

Ive also started following ‘thatguyinblue’ or whatever his name is. He does mostly tuned imports, but he has a low key way of presenting. Its all very simple, no crazy big production values, no lame jokes, just a guy in a car going for a drive and explaining what he’s feeling, what he’s driving and simply enjoying the drive.

EricTheCarGuy’s Fairmount  project is excellent. He goes into way more detail than any other build I’ve seen. He honestly might have over 50 videos on it alone. His content before that was repair videos on 80's and 90's Hondas.

He also has a second channel ETCG1 where he just talks about various things. Typically about being a mechanic (He was a dealer tech for a long time.)

Harry’s Garage isn’t an enthralling show like Roadkill. But I like it.

I had to come back to this because I was thinking about two different channels. bob at “I Like to Make Stuff” is awesome, but the other channel I was thinking of was Chrisfix he does pretty much Strickland car stuff and is the one doing the budget SN95 build, and also documenting his process of learning to drift.
