our new Commodore can stay in Europe due to the lack of manual.

Ouch. No manual, no rwd and possibly not even a V6. Sucks to be in Australia.

V6 definitely. no V8, no RWD, no manual, no sedan, hatch & wagon only.

Doesn’t help that it’s the descendant of this.

Shame they neutered it, because it looks sharp in that pic.

I think it’ll be the same as with Skoda not selling a large range of cars down in Oz (we talked about a few weeks/months ago).

They’ll do a RHD manual because I can’t imagine they’d sell well in auto only in the U.K.

It’s probably the angle and because of the black paint. I really like the design but from the rear quarter view it looks rather awkward.

GM would be stupid if they didn’t offer a manual. The Commodore will be a rebadged Vauxhall which will be offered with m/t anyways, so why not offer it that way in Oz? I just hope GM will at least consider it as an option.

Pip Bip and I were talking about this sort of thing a while back regarding the Skoda Superb availability in Oz. We don’t get the full list of specs and options the LHD market gets in Europe, but that Oz gets even less options. Pip Bip reasoned if I recall correctly on the lines of that the lead time of ordering a car was so long and that keeping an inventory of all the specs on hand would be inhibitive so that they just keep many of the small number of specs in stock. .

Like in the U.K. you can only get a diesel automatic for the Volvo S90 and V90 where in LHD markets you can get a full range of manual and automatic, petrol and diesel options.

Hopefully the price of cars going to Oz will come down as the U.K. and Aussie P.M.s are keen to come to a trade deal post Brexit.

Wow, I didn’t know that rhd markets get shafted with options. Kinda reminds me of the US recieving only higher spec models but sadly the inventory theory makes sense. Unlike the US with stupid rsegulations.

163 countries drive on the right where 76 countries drive on the left.

Of those 76 left hand side driving countries I’d say only a third if that are big car buying countries.

So like car companies having to crash test all the cars and specs to sell in the U.S., certain cars that aren’t anticipated to be big sellers are omited, I expect the same to be true for car manufacturers to sell in the U.K.

Why have four configurations of the same car (petrol-LHD, petrol-RHD, diesel-LHD and diesel-RHD) if you can get away with three.

The VW Passat we only get in diesel in the U.K. where the VW Passat and the Skoda Superb get the exact same engines in Europe’s LHD market.
