While I disagree with many standpoints of Trump, I’m here hoping for the best: for both the job he does, and how the rest of the country responds to this. What progress is made or lost is kind of on everyone now, not just Trump.

Thanks for those pics. I really like the one of the Trumps with the Obamas. The peaceful change of power is one of the defining things that make our country great.

I’ll give him one thing. He is a stubborn guy (being immature helps with that) and that could work to his advantage. He is also a very un-technical and simplified-talking-points kind of guy, which could also be of use.

The system has evolved into everyone bending over for special interests on both sides (albeit one more egregious than the other)—let’s see if the Donald can stand up to it. Not the most stellar job so far in the past 2 months, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Trump wasn’t welling up at the veterans, he was laughing. He likes troops who don’t get injured. Remember when he disparaged John McCain for being a POW?

If Trump builds a wall through my desert, that’s not on me. It’s also not on me if he uses religious rubrics to decide whether or not people can come to te US. I’m hoping he fails on all accounts. I hope the country resists his efforts.

“He is a stubborn guy (being immature helps with that) and that could work to his advantage.”

Yeah, I think this fits with the whole “His supporters take him seriously, not literally. The media takes him literally, not seriously” quote. A lot of what Trump says, he uses as leverage in deals he tries to make. Boeing up charging Air-Force one? Tweet out “Cancel order!” Sure, it seems immature, but it’ll let Boeing know not to scam costs. Ford building a plant in Mexico? Threaten tariffs! Suddenly companies are tripping over each other to announce their new American jobs and investments. You say he hasn’t done the most stellar job so far, but ~90,000 jobs have been announced specifically citing Trump as the cause, and he’s only just been sworn in today. I’m pretty impressed with that and it feels nice to have someone focused on getting shit done. I don’t really care if anyone thinks its immature or un-presidential.

eh... there’s some 38 countries with red, white, and blue flags, but only so many ways to design clothes (and make them look decent). Someone could have worn this in Panama and it’d have looked patriotic for them.

Plus, the star spangled banner is sung to the British tune “ To Anacreon in Heaven ,” and our flag is basically the British East India Company flag.

No one doubts their patriotism. History happened and everything comes from something.

Oh my... where do we begin... Those 90000 jobs are utter bullshit. 50000 of those 90000 come from the Softbank 50 billions dollar investment in the US. Deal that was announced in October. And it’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. The deal was planned and sealed way before Trump got elected... Once he got elected, he got briefed on it, and met with Softbank CEO like any other president would have. Trump had nothing to do with it, but he happily took credit for it...

Similar stories go for Ford, Fiat-Chrysler, Toyota...etc etc. Basically, everytime a company announces a creation of factory in the US, no matter the company, Trump takes credit for it.

But do you know what was the job growth in the US in September? +156000. In October? +161000. In November 2016? +216000. In December? +156000. How about a year ago? in December 2015? +292000. in November 2015? +211000.

Good luck to Trump to come anywhere near those numbers...

Funny I don’t hear the guy responsible for it spending his time tweeting about that lol. I guess sensationalism work for people who don’t like reading more than 140 characters at a time...

“And it’s not an opinion, it’s a fact.”

Actually it’s neither.

The fund from which the $50 billion came from an investment pool of $100 billion announced in October as a joint venture between SoftBank and Saudi Arabia. At the time it was thought that much of the fund would be invested in Saudia Arabia to help non-oil industries as the oil economy struggled. [ reuters ]

The $50 billion 50,000 job deal was announced only after SoftBank met with Trump, and is credited to Trump. Analysts hypothesize that the deal might have been made to gain Trump’s favor before SoftBank tries to merge Sprint with T-Mobile, but its pretty widely accepted that regardless the deal was his. [ Politico ]

Same thing with Ford, who credited the 700 jobs as a “vote of confidence” in Trump and canceled the Mexico plant because of Trump’s “Pro-business policies.” [ Detroit Free Press ] FC said as recently as January 9th that Trumps policies might force them out of Mexico and back into the US depending on the tariff cost.[ Detroit Free Press ] While I didn’t even include Toyota, they also said January 6th that even small tariffs would affect their output in Mexico.

Also 95% of all jobs Obama created were part-time and temporary jobsto offset the careers lost. According to Harvard and Princeton, “Workers seeking full-time, steady work have lost.” As Obama left office, he lost 300,000 manufacturing jobs. [ Princeton ] He even claimed that Trump would need a “Magic Wand” to get any of the Carrier jobs back. [ youtube ]

Funny how those pesky facts get in the way. But at least you can still complain your president uses twitter...

Oh please, really... just stop man. When a 100 billions dollars funds is created, where the money will go is known... They don’t create the fund then wonder where the money could be invested in, deciding all the in 3 weeks and a 45 minutes meeting with Trump. Same thing concerning the jobs themselves. This money is supposed to be invested in startup companies, which are not exactly job creators, so where this 50000 number comes from is actually quite unknown.

As for Carrier, Trump “saved” 800 jobs... 600 jobs are still leaving the US to Mexico to create fan coils. And do you know how much that deal cost to Indiana? 7 million dollars in tax cuts.

As for the Princeton study, I’m gonna go ahead and guess you have not read it. Guess what I have.

“A striking implication of these estimates is that 94 percent of the net employment growth in the U.S. economy from 2005 to 2015 appears to have occurred in alternative work arrangements.”

“Thus, these figures imply that employment in traditional jobs (standard employment arrangements) rose by only 0.5 million (0.4 percent) from 125.4 million in February 2005 to 125.8 million in November 2015. Unfortunately, we cannot determine the extent to which the replacement of traditional jobs with alternative work arrangements occurred before, during or after the Great Recession, although it is likely that there were tremendous losses of traditional jobs during the recession.”

This basically mean that the US went back to its usual 2005 type of employement, only 8 years after the biggest economical crisis of the past 80 years. So I’m not exactly sure what you are trying to blame on Obama’s administration, but nothing changed in term of temporary jobs and people getting multiple jobs since 2005. And again, considering what the country went through in 2008, it,s pretty damn good.

Buthey, it’s so easy to blame the guy who litteraly pulled your head of the water lol... Just remember that if Trump had been in power at the time, GM would not exist anymore today and keeping GM’s jobs in or out of the US would not even be on the program lol.

Just looking for a place to wedge in a word. I’m glad you are posting here, even if you are in a distinct minority doing so. I think it’s sort of cute to see the picture of Trump’s name written in the sky above Sidney, only to have President Trump slam down the phone on Malcolm Turnbull.

For my money, it ain’t about the politics. I mean, the other side won, get over it, move on. It’s about Trump’s personality and the abject lack of self respect that the likes of Kelly Ann Conway and Sean Spicer and Rinse Prius have to follow Trump around and give him rimjobs. Where do you dig up people like that?

What I do not understand is why it hasn’t occurred to any of the liberal protesters to go protest Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer or Debbie Wasserman Schulz for trotting out Hillary Rodham Clinton and throwing an election that should have been imminently winnable. Talk about arrogance and out-of-touch-ness.

Keep posting. I’m sure there are quite a few Oppos who feel as you do and just don’t wanna hear the liberal push-back.
