I hadn’t previously heard of North Carolina minister, the Rev. Dr. William Barber II* before seeing this video. But his message of bringing people together to focus on issues that concern us despite the lines which divide us filled me with a sense of peace I didn’t think was possible on a day like today. Thought others might like to see it, as well.

I sure hope we can bridge some gaps over the next 4 years. There are good people on both sides who want to do good things and do right by their fellow man. I hope we can focus on that and rally around it.

Look up Moral Mondays. We in NC have been living what the rest of the country is about to get: minority rule for the wealthiest only. We’ve fought back but we need redistricting before we can fix all the damage done in the last six years. At least our state government can’t start wars.

Yes, I have been meaning to set up a monthly donation to the NC NAACP. I think I will make sure I finally do that this weekend. They have been doing some seriously good work here trying to combat the voter suppression and all the bullshit the NCGA recently pulled.

Joy Reid has him on her weekend show on MSNBC frequently and he is a very inspiring speaker. I hope he gets more of a national level audience out of the work he is doing in his own state.

I have had the honor to see Rev. Barber speak a few times. This man is truly a visionary. He first gained mainstream notoriety a few years ago by staging, “Moral Monday,” protests at the state capital and legislative buildings, to great success and support. He runs a church in Goldsboro, NC, and even though I’m not religious, I would love to see him speak on a Sunday morning. I plan on running for office in NC in a few short years, and Rev. Barber is very much an inspiration to me. If anyone can bridge the divide; it’s him.
