The high performance package in ‘58 was one of the first offerings by a major manufacturer of >400hp. The normal ‘58 (375) could do 0-60 in something like 8. So, not a sports car as such, but surprisingly quick. Of course even the lowliest Fairlane 6 had a forward opening hood in the late 50s - because Ford - but it can be *made* a sports car.
