Kinja'd!!!

It is apparently called a NART Zagato. It is a prototype from the Italian Salon de Turin in 1971. It looks strange, has Ferrari badges, but rides on a Cadillac Eldorado chassis and retains the Cadillac dashboard, strip speedo, and, most importanly, the column shift. The 472 V8 however, has been relocated mid-ship.

Kinja'd!!!

The engine, being a 472 is most likely a 1968 or 1969 engine, which means pre-smog, which means it is propelling this befuddling vehicle, via the rear wheels, with at least 375hp and 525 lb-ft of torque.

So there you go, if you want to make a Cadillac more like a European sports-car, this is the proper way to do it.

Also, can anybody loan me $250,000?

Pieces parts look more Toronado than Eldo, but those were platform mates anyway.

with at least 375hp and 525 lb-ft of torque

n.b.: those were “SAE Gross” ratings, and will be less with things like a full exhaust system, accessory drives, etc.

I believe it was 400 SAE and that 375 is closer to the actual figure.

My dad said when he was growing up, there was a fabricator/mechanic/all around insane human being who grafted a beetle onto the front subframe of a toronado. Yes, my dad always told the story as this guy putting a toronado engine in the back of a beetle but let’s be real here - 8.0L of oldsmobile V8 is not simply inserted into a beetle.

I can only imagine the sheer panic one would feel when you hit the gas in such a mongrel.

Most people put an engine cover or something over it like in a van. Others are just more awesome.
