Spends lifetime dedicated to German cars.  Does not want them.

This is good. Reliable, quick enough, good looking, comfortable, spacious, reasonably efficient, JDM AF parts available... Yeah, this would be a good dadmobile. Yes, I want one of these.

Kinja'd!!!

And one of these. A 4.0 4x4 Tacoma 4-door longbed=my ideal dadtruck. Room for the family and all our shit, I can have some fun with it, and it’s not 22 years old and constantly needing work, or too big to park anywhere, and gets better than 14mpg downhill.

Kinja'd!!!

I need to get away from my habit of driving cheap-because-they-need-work-and-I-can-fix-them German cars, I don’t have time for that any more. With dependable regular cars that never need work beyond maintenance, I can then focus on totally irrational and pointless projects in the garage! Genius.

Hell no, it was just a good picture. And mine most certainly would not be beige.

I wanted a GS soooooo bad when I was car shopping, but ended up with an avalon. But over all I’m relatively happy!

Hey, the Avalon is a perfectly good car, and does almost all of the things the Lexus does. No shame there.

The Avalon is really good at what it does. It gets flak around here for not being a RWD manual track monster.

Exactly, and always has been good at what it does. It’s like a really nice, bigger Camry, and I mean that as a complement. The first one looked a little frumpy, but was a damn good car. The new one looks decent, if not as well proportioned as the GS. A farther-back greenhouse will always look better, which RWD architecture pretty much mandates.

Everything gets flak around here for not being a RWD manual track monster, unfairly. The only reason I prefer RWD is for mechanical simplicity and ease of maintenance on longitudinal engines, but I’ve been a wrench my entire life so that’s how I look at cars. Also the occasional dab of Oppo.

One of the guys I work with, been with Benz for a very long time, owns a 4runner and a Sienna as his and his wife’s daily vehicles. He also has a sprinter that uses for camping and mountain biking though.

So nice, but i don’t need or want all the extra shit that newer models have though.

Sounds like my kind of dude. My wife drives a Sienna, I’ve had three Toyota trucks (including a 4Runner) in the past and love them. Project cars are one thing, but the last thing I want to do at the end of my day or on the weekend is work on my daily.

Him and I are a lot alike. I suspect we’d all get along pretty well.

He wants to sell the sprinter and buy another one but with AWD so he can take it snowboarding too.

Can’t say I’m into Toyotas, but I get where you’re coming from and respect them for what they are. Which is why I was very selective with my cars.

I suspect the same. I certainly can’t fault you for the E55, I do really like those and they don’t need much.

I was shopping for the GS and if i remember I stopped when I ran into transmission issues being a mainstay or something like that. Then the Avalon popped up on my list. I’m now in a corolla because free but Avalon’s are great highway mile eaters.

GS450h might be my fav. doe. Dat electric boost.  Basically a Toyota TS-030 limousine.

Oh absolutely. I have no resentment towards it what so ever. Granted mine is an 2005, so unfortunately it haseems a 5 speed. So gas mileage is mmhhhmm, however she is supremely comfortable, and since I svend the car every weekend with a proper wash, she always looks good

I think a well sorted 210 is about as close to Japanese as a German car can get. They’re reliable, inexpensive to own (relative to most euro cars), nice to drive, practical.

Toyotas are nice things. Lexuses are even nicer Toyotas. But good Toyotas cost more than crappy German cars, and that’s why only my wife has a good Toyota.

That Lexus is so amazing. An S190 GS 450h probably is exquisite, impressive car. If you need my approval: Granted!!!

It’s a non-hybrid GS430 that’s sold me on these, a client’s car. The 450H would be amazing, but likely out of reach and hard to find.

The way a 450H accelerates is simply epic. Just the tiniest trunk was a thing Lexus should have solved. Then again: I only have one kid so there’s some room left on the rear seats ;-)

Did you get the 450H over there? With our tax climate all kinds of tax benefits made these a bit interesting, I can imagine that being different in that oil-addicted country of yours. Second hand they still do quite some cash though.

We got them, but tax breaks have no bearing on used car prices here. I can get a carpool lane pass sticker for it, though. Helpful in cities.
