Thanks. I will try to do these things. I am 5 weeks on without my GTO and I HATE it. I just miss my guy friend whom I haven’t seen in 3 weeks cause busy and no car. It’ll get better I am sure.

I had 53 emails to read before lunch. None after, so far, which is weird, but I have a project to do I don’t like, so....
After work I’m going to try repainting the accent black in the aluminum deck on the Galaxie so it will look like this again:
Aluminum being a huge pain to get things to stick to, I’m going to use high-temp air/heat cure epoxy and cook it with a heat gun.

It’s a ‘63 Galaxie 500 four door. I got it right after Christmas. Being a “500", it’s a V8 with Cruise-O-Matic three speed, but every other single option was nixed. Manual brakes, steering, windows, doesn’t even have a radio - so it has the deluxe two-part interior, deluxe badging and trim outside, and *nothing* else other than the 289 and auto.
It was a big thing in the ‘60s for American manufacturers to go for aluminum brightwork on things like headlight surrounds, side trim, and grilles, because pseudo-chrome anodizing had finally hit its stride and it was a great way to save weight - along with new thin-stamping tech for body panels. Contrasting this with my Lincoln, which has almost all pot metal chrome-work, this thing weighs nearly 3/4 ton less.

Neato! My Grandpa had a ‘63 1/2 Fastback when my dad was growing up. I imagine it’d be a kickass Ford family mover and travel ride across the country. And yet, I’ve never seen a Galaxie up close before. One day. :)

I’ve wanted one of these for years (partly due to seeing one up close, heh), and this one dropped into my lap - $1500. Oh noes its a boxtop and not a fastback or pillarless hardtop whatever shall i do etc. Actually, I wanted it four-door, so it’s pretty much perfect.
If I drive this thing to Detroit for any reason or pass through on my way to annoy Fritch on the west coast or something I will definitely light the Opposignal.

Good condition, but a couple of things brought the price down. This one has a trans that wasn’t shifting properly (probably either crap in the governor or related to a linkage issue because all four friction surfaces have to be okay for it to have the gears it has), it needs weatherstrip in the doors, needs headliner and carpet, needs a little front suspension work, and has rust damage to the edge of the trunk. So, a day coming up on the lift for front suspension and trans, FULL front suspension kit ($280), an oil sender switch ($8), new trans gasket and screen(?)(~$30), a new retainer for the trans crossbar ($3), new headliner ($180 in perfect original starpoint style, WOOT), new carpet ($170), touchup paint etc. (~$45), and a day on folding misc. metal and using the welder.
Total forecast: maybe $750 more and three or four days to make it ridiculously nice.
If I ever come to Detroit, I would most likely pass through Jarod Rose’s back yard on my way so I’d have to stop there too.
